Campus-Specific Enrollment Policy

Winn Montessori seeks to maintain a diverse learning environment while also ensuring that students who might not otherwise have access to a progressive educational model benefit from a Montessori education. As a school community, we have created a unique set of Campus-Based Equity factors that will prioritize enrolling students new to Winn Montessori in the following categories:

  • In-district students who qualify for free and reduced meals as demonstrated on an Income Verification Form.

  • In-district students who qualified for free Pre-K at an Austin ISD school in the previous school year.

  • In-district students who are currently or were formerly in foster care or are experiencing homelessness.

New student applications will be reviewed and prioritized based on these Campus-Based Equity Factors.  The number of seats reserved for students meeting the Campus-Based Equity factors will be adjusted to ensure a campus-wide Title I percentage of 65%. These calculations are completed each year prior to notifying new families that enroll during the priority enrollment period.

All students who reside in the Winn Montessori zone, those who attended in the previous school year on a transfer, and children of Peace Officers or Service Members, will automatically be accepted and given a seat for the next school year provided that any required criteria continue to be met.

For our Spanish-English dual language program, zoned emergent bilingual students will be prioritized followed by zoned opt-in (English-language dominant) students, transfer emergent bilingual students, and transfer opt-in students.

If you are enrolling a PreK student, additional information can be found on the district PreK page.  Note that PreK registration does not begin until the spring of 2025 for the 2025-26 school year.

Winn Montessori does accept transfer students who live within the AISD boundaries but no longer accepts transfers from outside AISD due to the growing demand for our school.  Learn more about transfers.
