Education is my family business.

My grandpa became a science teacher after he returned from WWII. My dad was my high school principal, and my mom taught kindergarten for 32 years. My older sister teaches eighth-grade biology. (My little sister went rogue and became a nurse.)

Before moving to Austin, I spent nearly a decade with the Montana Migrant Education program. Since then, I've taught ESL and theater at a small charter academy, supported first generation college graduates with Breakthrough Central Texas, and served diverse students in AISD's Humanities magnet program. I am now honored to be the principal of Austin ISD's only public Montessori school. It is a joy to provide an authentic Montessori experience for all students and to lead a campus and community toward best practices for instruction, inclusion of students with disabilities, biliteracy/bilingualism, and caregiver involvement. I promote a school vision that celebrates diversity, says yes to the big dreams of our staff, and provides equitable outcomes for all students. I'm proud to continue my family business.

During college, I began working as a substitute teacher to earn some extra money, and that's when I discovered my passion for teaching. Helping children learn new concepts and skills and watching them apply what they've learned was incredibly fulfilling, and I knew I had found my calling. My passion for education stems from my commitment to ensuring that every child feels safe, seen, and supported.

My siblings followed my path in education. My sister is a librarian at a middle school, and my brother is a Facilities Manager for IDEA Public Schools. Our mom is a retired Montessori teacher. Her dedication to working with students inspired our belief that every student deserves a high-quality education that prepares them for future endeavors.

I have spent over 22 years in education as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, dyslexia specialist, literacy trainer, and bilingual cluster specialist. My focus has always been on helping students grow and supporting teachers.

I believe strong relationships and collaboration with families and staff are key to a thriving school community, and I am dedicated to fostering these relationships to ensure our students' success.

I am thrilled to be part of the Winn Montessori family and look forward to the opportunity to contribute to this amazing, tight-knit community.
