April 2026 Newsletter

April is a beautiful month on our campus as our garden, wildflowers, and trees begin to flourish! Our students in third, fourth, and fifth grade will also take the STAAR exam in reading, math, and science (5th grade only). While these assessments greatly impact out state accountability rating, we are proud of our students' growth and want the testing days to feel calm and supportive. We want our students to be confident in what they've learned this year--it's a lot! Registration for next year is open, and we have set a goal of having 100% of students registered by April 15. Please let us know how we can support your family in completing preschool or grade school registration for school year 2026-2027. We will also celebrate our final Butterfly Festival on Saturday, April 18 from 10-2pm. We hope to see you there for free food and activities!

March 2026 Newsletter

As we move into March, we continue to focus on two main areas: increased academics and supporting students and staff in finding new schools for the 2026-2027 school year. Thank you to Mr. Juan, Ms. Maria, Ms. Sandra, Ms. Abby, and Ms. Mel for making hundreds of phone calls as we connected with families and helped them enroll. We hope your family enjoys spring break. I know our staff will appreciate the time to rest before a full last two months of school.

February 2026 Newsletter

Valentine's Day has been one of my favorite holidays since I was a child because my family celebrated it as a time to acknowledge our family members and friends, not simply romantic love. This month, as I focus on finding our students and staff new school communities next year, I'm taking time to remember all the things I love about our school. Again, we will celebrate a final "We Love Winn Montessori" Week. This week will include a family meal, flower arranging for our staff, a card exchange with our students, and opportunities for families to RAVE about their classroom guide and assistant. I love the joy of our students, the problem solving of our staff, the support of our families, and the unique school we have created together. I love serving our school!

January 2026 Newsletter

Happy New Year, Winn Montessori community! Our staff is returning rested and ready for the challenge of helping every student meet their academic and social emotional goals. Our academic focus this spring semester will be reading comprehension with written responses and math problem solving.

December 2025 Newsletter

I write you all with a heavy heart as our school will be closing at the end of the school year. In the next month, we should learn more about the Montessori classrooms at Reilly Elementary School and how families will confirm their seat at a new school next year. We will be calling, sending texts, and emails to make sure each family knows the options for their student and feels confident in the process to enroll.

November 2025 Newsletter

Two months left of this school year! November and December are busy times with two holiday breaks, our first winter concert, and some additional field trips for our Elementary students, too.

October 2025 Newsletter

This Friday, our school will recieve emotional news regarding our Turnaround Plan (TAP) and school closures and consolidations. The entire district will undergo some level of change but we know our community is facing uncertainty at a greater level than many.

September 2025 Newsletter

I cannot believe we are moving into our third week of school already! It has been a pleasure getting to know your children. The weather is cooling, and while I still miss Montana's colorful leaves, I'm starting to think of fall and all the growth we will see. Thank you for your patience and grace as we all learned new routines. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming Breakfast with Ms. Bridget, Garden Day, Parent Teacher Association meet-up, or our Watch Me Work night on September 17.

August 2025 Newsletter

Welcome back, Winn Montessori families! The front office team and I have been back for a couple of weeks preparing the school for your child's return. Included are some important back to school updates, but overall, our systems and routines are staying the same for this school year: same arrival and dismissal plans, same uniforms, same start and end times, and same commitment to learning.

May Newsletter

We have one final month together this school year, and it is a very full one! We look forward to some final field trips, the family meal, Circle of Games, and promotion ceremonies.

April Newsletter

April is a beautiful month on our campus as our garden, wildflowers, and trees begin to flourish! The month is also full of so many important and exciting events: kindergarten swimming lessons, the 3rd Annual Butterfly Festival, our school play Alice in Wonderland, more field trips, and the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (or STAAR) test.

March Newsletter

March is a month of in-between as we learn from the varied language and content assessments completed in February and modify our students' learning to meet their needs. I will also start actively hiring for next school year as our campus continues to grow.
